MAG Interactive wants to save the ocean with mobile games | Pocket Gamer.biz

Swedish word game specialist MAG Interactive has launched a series of environment-focused events in six of its games as part of the United Nations gaming initiative Playing For The Planet.

Its aim is to draw attention to the preservation of the world’s oceans and coral reefs.

MAG developed these events during Green Game Jam 2021, a workshop where game companies develop game ideas to support the environment.

This workshop is organized by Playing For The Planet Alliance, a UN program that brings together gaming companies to improve the global climate through play.

Cool it down

MAG developed its environmental events based on the UN-led Glowing Glowing Gone campaign, which aims to reduce the threat to coral reefs – a highly vulnerable ecosystem due to death from ocean heat waves .

Special Ocean Events are kicking off in Wordzee, Ruzzle, Word Domination, WordBrain, WordBrain 2 and New QuizDuel, which will also host a Special Ocean Quiz.

Players are invited to add their name to a petition for the preservation of coral reefs through the Glowing Glowing Gone website or to donate to projects aimed at protecting the health of the oceans.

“Our goal is to create engaging content for our players while delivering an important message that they have the power to help preserve the marine ecosystem,” said Daniel Hasselberg, CEO of MAG Interactive.

“We could not be more excited to join MAG to help raise awareness and mobilize resources for the planet’s precious coral reefs,” commented Leticia Carvalho, Marine and Freshwater Officer at the United Nations Program. United for the Environment.

“Play can be transformational by inspiring this journey of learning and action.”

MAG’s ocean-themed events coincide with the launch of “Status of Coral Reefs of the World: 2020,” a comprehensive report on the state of the ocean’s coral reefs. It is the first of its kind in over a decade.
