QCOSTARICA – The Legislative Committee on Economic Affairs has ruled positively on the initiative to promote mobile commerce, in the form of “trucks”.

Bill 22.282, “Ley Especial para el Comercio Sobre Ruedas” (Special Law for the Trade in Wheels), introduced by legislator Daniel Ulate of the Partido Liberacion Nacional (PLN), aims to make this activity an option for those who wish to start a business.

“Currently, there are no regulations for this new business model and it is of great importance to work on regulations that provide legal certainty, not only for the consumer but for all entrepreneurs who, in through this type of activity, seek to consolidate a business, ”says Ulate.

The legislator pointed out that this initiative would allow people to carry out new businesses and thus reactivate the economy since it would allow people to create a mobile business under the structure of a “truck” which can be for the sale of food. , the sale of clothes, a beauty salon or a barber shop, and more, thus allowing to broaden the business ideas.

This new business has been successful in Costa Rica since 2015, allowing small entrepreneurs to explore business opportunities by offering their products at affordable prices due to a smaller initial investment than a traditional restaurant or retail outlet. fixed detail.

“In times of crisis, similar to a war economy, like the one we live in, with historic unemployment and underemployment, we must facilitate, relax and order the various commercial activities to boost the economy and offer Costa Ricans real options for moving forward, ”said the legislator.

The initiative was approved unanimously and will now be consulted with institutions such as the Ministry of the Economy, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Labor and municipalities before moving forward in the legislative process.
