Legendary Play raises $4 million to develop a suite of mobile esports games | Pocket

Legendary Play, developer of esports-themed mobile games, has announced that it has secured $4 million from a Series A funding round.

Co-led by Bitkraft Ventures and MTG, funding from the round will be used to develop new mobile games designed for esports audiences. Further participation came from 1Up Ventures and Level Up.

Legendary Play said its mission through its games portfolio is to develop games in which fans can experience being an esports team owner, coach and athlete, and plans to develop a range of mobile titles ranging from FPS games to MOBAs.

Addressing esports fans

“We’re creating mobile titles that allow engaged fans to experience their passion in a more casual setting,” said Roman Frank, CEO of Legendary Play.

“While we started with management games, our long-term vision is to roll out a diverse portfolio of esports-themed games, including casual games, role-playing games and adventure games. “

The developer’s debut title “Rivals” surpassed one million downloads in 2021, and a co-op RPG is currently in development. Legendary Play has also partnered with ESL to allow players to compete for leaderboards in virtual versions of ESL’s events.

Axie Infinity developer Sky Mavis recently raised $150 million in a funding round that brought its total capital raised to date to $311 million.
