Karbonn starts operations at Tirupati mobile plant, Telecom News, ET Telecom

NEW DELHI: Cell phone maker Karbonn Mobiles began operations on Sunday at its manufacturing unit in Tirupati, created with an investment of Rs 200 crore. “The Cellular Telephone and Electronics Association of India (ICEA) is pleased to announce the establishment of the 269th manufacturing plant by Karbonn Mobiles in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh,” said a company statement.

The facility is installed at the Sri Venkateshwara Mobile and Electronics Manufacturing Hub under the aegis of the government of Andhra Pradesh, ”ICEA President Pankaj Mohindroo said in the statement.

The total investment is Rs 200 crore, while the facility’s production capacity stands at 1 million mobile phones per month, the statement said.

“The facility will be implemented in phases and will span an area of ​​1 lakh square foot. The facility will reward the hard work of more than 1,000 employees,” said Sudhir Hasija, president of Karbonn Mobiles and chairman of the southern area of ​​the ICEA.

The installation was inaugurated by Mohindroo.

Government policies and specific interventions along with the hard work of global and indigenous entrepreneurs have helped India achieve the second label of mobile phone manufacturing destination, Mohindroo said.

The assembly plant will be inaugurated by IT of Andhra Pradesh and Minister of Panchayati Raj, Nara Lokesh.
