China’s mobile game industry to reach $ 60 billion by 2025, more than European and North American markets combined

Countries in the Asia-Pacific region, which account for the largest share of mobile phone users globally, have seen their mobile gaming markets explode in recent years, especially after the COVID-19 hit. As the largest gaming market in the region and globally, China is the best example of this impressive growth.

According to data presented by MejoresApuestas.com, the Chinese mobile game industry is expected to generate $ 41.5 billion in revenue this year, up 50% from pre-COVID-19 figures. The overall market will continue to grow in the following years and will reach a value of over $ 60 billion by 2025, more than the European and North American mobile game markets combined.

As the fastest growing segment of the gaming industry, mobile games are expected to generate more than $ 110 billion in revenue this year. About 40% of that value will come from China, which is home to nearly a third of all mobile gamers in the world.

According to Statista Digital Market Outlook, the Chinese mobile game market has experienced the most impressive growth in recent years. In 2017, the entire industry was valued at $ 19.2 billion. Since then, mobile gaming revenue in the country has doubled, reaching $ 41.5 billion in 2021.

By comparison, Europe saw its mobile gaming revenue increase by 42% to $ 12.5 billion during this period. North America followed with a 35% increase and revenue of $ 22.7 billion in 2021.

However, the following years are expected to experience even greater growth. By 2025, Chinese mobile gamers are expected to increase their annual spending by $ 20 billion. Revenues in the North American market are expected to increase by $ 10.3 billion during this period, followed by an increase of $ 5.5 billion in the European market.

Mobile games have completely changed the gaming industry, bringing constant entertainment through cloud-based games and apps that work offline. The amenities of on-the-go entertainment will continue to attract hundreds of millions of users, especially in major markets like China.

According to Statista data, China’s mobile game industry had around 450 million users two years ago. Growing mobile phone penetration and COVID-19 have added 113 million new users, with the total number reaching over 563 million in 2021. Over the next four years, nearly half of Chinese people are expected to play mobile games, with the number of mobile gamers exceeding 662 million.

The North American mobile game market is expected to reach around 252 million users by then, 39 million more than in 2021. Europe follows with 233 million mobile gamers by 2025, up from 201 million this year. .
